The Portuguese founded the fort area on the rocky peninsular near the town of Galle with earthen walls and wooden palisades. The Dutch later built the extensive stone ramparts, strengthened with fortune bastions and a single entrance. During the British period the ramparts were further strengthened, another entrance opened with the addition of the clock tower. In this view we look across the historic houses to the Dutch Reformed church on the far side. Galle Fort is a World Heritage site.NB. The price is for mounted but unframed. Size is of the image.
